The best thing about being single

Today a trending topic on twitter is #BestThingsAboutBeingSingle. One of my favorite quotes from SATC is "Being single used to mean that nobody wanted you....Now it means that you're pretty, sexy, and you're taking your time deciding how you want your life to be and who you want to spend it with". I guess ever since last night's post I'd been thinking about the past few years that I've been single. If I am honest I think it's been probably the best 3 years of my life so far. I've learned so much about myself. It definitely hasn't been easy and all of it was not great but overall I truly believe I've finally began to find myself. I found my voice, I found more of my personality and who I am, it was my time to begin my self discovery. I had some very dark moments, but I also had lots of fun along the way. I have times when I miss being in a relationship and desire to have a loving partner again, but like I said last night I have come to terms...

Dating

So I've been single more than 3 years now. It seems the older I get the more I realize that I'm OK being alone. I'd rather be alone than in the wrong relationship. I find myself less willing to compromise on certain aspects that are important to me and as such less willing to just settle. It seems a re-occurring trend is guys automatically trying to lure a girl by telling her how much money he has and what he can do for her financially. I am not for sale, so when you approach me in this manner I am immediately turned off, especially when this is the 1st real conversation I've had with you. But these guys have to have gotten this approach from somewhere. I am sure there are plenty o...

A quick catch up

So since my last post I've survived hurricane Irene and a few other things. Irene thankfully didn't do any major damage in Nassau, some of the other islands in the Bahamas had some serious damage though. We had nothing serious occur at our property either. The worst part of the hurricane was the fact that we lost power for 3 days. I was complaining about that for a while until I realized others had it far worse than we did so the loss of power for 3 days was pretty minor. It did suck a whole lot though. Other than that a lot of my time over the past few weeks has been occupied with helping to take care of my ailing grandmother. My paternal grandmother has been battling breast cancer for over a year now. She went into the hospital again shortly after I returned home. So I've been frequently visiting her in the hospital. Bathing her and changing her and making certain that she eats, seen as she refuses to eat hospital food. She was discharged last week and seen as she lives...
