Forever I love Atlanta.

Image
The past week or so has been a bit manic. I've been doing all of the administrative tasks involved with moving as well as sorting through my stuff and continuing to prepare for my move. Sorting through 9 years of your life takes some time. I've called to cancel my utilities etc and deciding items I'd like to keep as well as trying to squeeze in things in Atlanta that I've always wanted to do, but never seemed to make the time for. I've also been trying to find time to spend with my friends before I leave seen as I won't see them for a while. One of the things I've wanted to do was to go to the Zoo. I'd only been once and it was for a work event and the day was hot and exhausting so I didn't really get to enjoy the zoo. So last Saturday I went to the Zoo with one of my friends from freshman year at Oglethorpe and walked around. It was so much fun. I love animals so I really enjoyed the experience. I was kind of sad that all of the big cats were feel...

My milestones = someone's death.

I know this post is morbid, but I just have to get this out. It seems that death is the symbol of change in my life. Every time I go through a big life change or important moment it seems someone in my family dies. It's so common for me now that when I began packing earlier this week and planning for my move to Israel I actually stopped to process and pray about who it'd be this time. I found myself pleading with God to keep my grandmother healthy. My grandmother is the single most important person to me. She is literally my world and she's been ailing for almost a year now so I am always worried about her. She is so happy and excited about me moving to Israel that I absolutely can't wait for graduation and her to be there next year! My grandmother and I are very close. I would say I am closer to my grandmother than I am my mom. She has lived with us my whole life. She has been my biggest cheerleader and the one person that I can always go to with the truth even when...

Standing room only!

So I've finally started to sort through all of my stuff so that I can start packing. Last night I drove by a Kroger and got some boxes and then I came home ready to work. I sorted through my coat/storage closet last night and have already managed to take a load of stuff to the Goodwill for donation. There are boxes everywhere, stuff everywhere and my place is now in total disarray. Did I mention that I HATE moving/packing?!?! I stayed in my old apartment for 6 years just to avoid the ordeal of moving and now I am doing it again a year later. Not to mention I hate mess so the fact that my house is completely cluttered is driving me mad. It will all be worth it in the end right?! Now I understand why people pay movers to do this stuff. Packing is stressful and strenuous. My back kills! At least I can count packing as my daily exercise! I swear I have been on my feet for at least 5 hrs straight today. I am going to think of packing as calorie burning from now on! When I think ab...

I'm a walking gay-dar! ;)

Happy 4th of July! I've had a good weekend. I hope you all did too. I've had some interesting conversations with a few friends this weekend and I got to thinking about how important friends are to me. We may not speak or see each other for a while, but that doesn't hinder true friendship. I have half siblings, but I grew up as an only child so for the most part my closest friends are more like family to me. My friends are extensions of me in very unique ways. They're all very different but I love them all the same. It's interesting I've been reconnected with a friend from middle school who I've not had much contact with since high school and it's as if we never skipped a beat. We've just kind of fit into each other's lives again in the most perfect way. We've been a great source of advice for each other. It seems that we're both in similar places and know the perfect things to say to each other to get us through. How is it that we...

Carpe Diem!

I was out with a couple of friends last night who I'd not seen in quite some time. It was nice to see them. We caught up a little and I told them about my move and what's been going on with me since the last time we saw each other. Since telling people about my plans to move a common question has been "What are you going to do after Israel?" I struggle with this question because I don't really have a definitive answer. I really don't know what I'm going to do after Israel. It's weird I'm usually a planner when it comes to this aspect of my life, but it seems like my free spirited-ness has taken over in the past few years. We don't always have to have a plan do we? It's ok to take things as they come, I feel. I'm a firm believer in everything happens for a reason. Since going back to school last summer I've not really had a definitive plan. Don't get me wrong I'm not blindly walking either. I do have an idea of where I...

Will work for shoes!

They say that the first step is admitting you have a problem. So I am publicly declaring myself as a shoe addict. What can I say I love shoes! Shoes always fit! It doesn't matter if you've lost weight, gained weight or some combination of the two, shoes are the one item that always fit. In the past month I've bought myself 7 pairs of shoes. 2 pairs in the past 7 days alone. I will say that all of them except my Tom's I got on sale! :) (I can't resist cute shoes on sale) I couldn't resist the Tom's they've got a one-for-one policy. What better way to lure a shoe addict in? If I buy a pair of shoes you give a pair to a child in need? SOLD! I loved this idea so much that I even bought a pair for my adorable niece Isabel. With my purchase I gave 2 needy children a pair of shoes! I am a shoe addict and philanthropist! :) #winning HAHAHA! Does it count against me if I've bought my niece 2 pairs of shoes in the past month too?! I don't think so,...
